Given the severe labor shortage, aging population, and long-standing productivity issues, Japanese companies should be in the most suitable condition for AI use. However, AI usage in many Japanese workplaces is still slow and cautious compared to the US and UK.
Japan's reaction to AI is beginning to resemble the traditional and slow-paced 'Noh' drama of Japan. All masked characters on stage agree that immediate action is needed, the same call is repeated seriously, but the actors remain stationary in their places. While this style might be good for building tension in a drama, it does not seem effective for solving the country's current problems.
