Avalanche Kills 11 Climbers in Russia's Caucasus Region

Moscow. At least 11 climbers have died and 6 have been injured in an avalanche in Russia's northern Caucasus region of Kabardino-Balkaria. According to local emergency services, an avalanche occurred on Mount Mizhirgi, one of the highest peaks in Russia's northern Caucasus, around 5 PM on Sunday. The avalanche affected a group of 33 climbers.

By 9 AM on Monday, 10 climbers had managed to descend the mountain safely on their own. Emergency officials said the condition of the other 6 remains unknown.
