South Asian lawmakers call for stronger regional climate cooperation

Parliamentarians back proposals for a regional climate council, electricity grid and cross-border disaster-warning system after Nepal’s recent glacial-related disaster.

Parliamentarians from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Bangladesh have called for concrete institutional measures to strengthen regional cooperation on climate change and energy, saying existing agreements need to be translated into working mechanisms.
