Kathmandu. A devastating flood in Rasuwa has so far killed 1,357 people. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority confirmed this fact by releasing an updated report as of 1:00 PM on Bhadra 23. According to the authority, bodies have been found from various places. Among them, 363 bodies were found in Chitwan, 223 in Nawalpur East, 222 in Nawalpur West, 197 in Nuwakot, 169 in Rasuwa, 70 in Dhading, 75 in Gorkha, and 38 in Tanahu, along with human body parts. Out of the bodies found, only 102 have been identified and handed over to their relatives. So far, a total of 5,326 people are missing. Of these, 2,860 people are missing from Rasuwa district alone. Among the missing are 1,393 from Rasuwa, 1,286 from other districts, 45 from the Nepali Army, 25 from Nepal Police, 12 from the Armed Police, 73 government employees, and 26 employees from banks and financial institutions. In addition, about 1,981 Nepali citizens and about 587 foreign tourists from Nuwakot are still missing, the authority stated. Through the search and rescue operation intensified after the disaster, 13,583 people have been safely rescued so far. 6,827 people injured in the flood are undergoing treatment. Among them, 3,404 from the Nepali Army, 3,096 from the Armed Police, and 327 in various 10 hospitals are undergoing treatment. 242 of those undergoing treatment in hospitals have been discharged. For the rescue operation, a total of 21,402 security personnel, including 9,287 from the Nepali Army, 7,912 from Nepal Police, and 4,203 from the Armed Police Force, have been deployed in the field. For rescue and relief by air service, the Nepali Army made 1,157 helicopter flights, private sector from Kathmandu made 129 flights, and the Armed Police made 203 flights. A total of 3,533 displaced people have been kept in 39 holding centers, including 669 in Rasuwa, 2,651 in Nuwakot, and 213 in Dhading. The government has provided cash relief of 1 crore each to Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, 50 lakh to Dhading, and 13 crore 50 lakh rupees to 15 affected local levels. Meanwhile, 50,000 liters of diesel, 18,000 liters of petrol, 18,000 liters of aviation fuel, and 457 cylinders of gas have been sent to the affected areas. The Ministry of Health has mobilized more than 150 personnel for psychosocial counseling of the affected. Looking at the electricity supply situation, electricity has been restored in 99.8% of households in Dhading, 96.7% in Nuwakot, and 78% in Rasuwa.
