Parliament Session Highlights Citizen Grievances and Government Failures

Kathmandu. The issues raised in the recent parliamentary session have clearly shown the growing distance between state power and the daily lives of ordinary citizens. On Thursday's House of Representatives meeting, MPs drew the government's attention to the hardships and humiliation faced by citizens.

Nepali Congress MP Sita Thapaliya (Urmila) questioned the Industry Minister's statement. Targeting the minister's threat to 'turn the screws' on businessmen, she said, 'Citizens need gas. Not the minister's threats.' MPs expressed anger that the government used threatening language even when citizens' stoves were not lit due to gas shortages.
