MP Renuka Kaucha Highlights Need for Mental Reconstruction for Flood Victims

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Member of Parliament Renuka Kaucha has stated that the 'reconstruction of the minds and hopes' of citizens affected by the devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi river on Bhadra 10 is necessary. In the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, MP Kaucha said that along with physical damage, flood victims are going through severe mental stress and psychosocial problems.

MP Kaucha mentioned that post-disaster rehabilitation means not just building damaged houses and roads, but reconstructing broken minds and hopes. She said, 'Due to the loss of life and property, the pain of becoming homeless, displacement, and uncertainty about the future, the affected citizens are suffering from severe mental stress, worry, anxiety, and depression.'
