Government Grants Permission for Portugal Consular Office in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. The government has granted permission to the Portuguese government to open a consular office in Kathmandu. The Council of Ministers meeting held on Tuesday decided to grant permission to the Portuguese government to open a consular office in Kathmandu, informed government spokesperson Sasmita Pokharel. The date from which the office will come into operation has not been disclosed.

Nepal had been urging the Portuguese government to open a mission in Kathmandu with diplomatic representation. As per Nepal's request, the Portuguese government had decided to establish a consular office in Kathmandu for now and sought agreement from the Nepali government. Accordingly, the Council of Ministers has given consent to establish the office.
