Division Forest Office Uses Thermal Drone to Monitor Leopards in Chitwan

Chitwan. The Division Forest Office has taken the help of a 'thermal drone' to monitor and control two leopards in human settlements and surrounding areas. The office and the National Trust for Nature Conservation's joint team have been using drones for the past two days to assess the possibility of leopards in the bushes in the area of ​​Agriculture and Forestry University.<

Control work has been started after leopards were seen in the bushes in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15 and the premises of Agriculture and Forestry University for the past two months. The office's Information Officer Deviprasad Poudel informed that it has been difficult to control them as they are seen at night but not during the day. Currently, for leopard control, work has been done during the day using thermal drones (capable of identifying animal heat signatures), installing CC cameras in five locations, setting up traps in three locations, and leg-hold traps (to entangle legs) in three locations.<
