Rethinking Nepal’s Belt And Road Strategy

As Nepal prepares for a closely watched political visit to Beijing in recent years, a question more important than diplomatic protocol deserves attention: can the visit help place Nepal on a path toward sustained double-digit economic growth? As Nepal and China enter a new phase of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation, the challenge is no longer whether Nepal needs more infrastructure. It is whether the BRI can become a platform for industrialisation, structural transformation and long-term prosperity.
